From #nyt just now:

Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the minority leader, broke with his party on Thursday and lined up enough Democrats to advance a Republican-written bill to keep federal funding flowing past a midnight Friday deadline, arguing that Democrats could not allow a government shutdown that many of them have demanded.

Schumer has to go.

Although I cancelled my #NewYorkTimes subscription way back in 2016 or thereabouts, and have been very critical of NYT, if someone felt they needed to choose between #NYT and #WashingtonPost today, I would recommend NYT in a heartbeat. This would have been unthinkable to me even 6 months ago. Some followers may remember me defending WaPo as recently as October 2024. Everything has changed. WaPo is now the propaganda machine of one billionaire, who doesn't care a whit whether the paper makes money or not. I can only assume the "non-evil" people still working there are now frantically searching for new work elsewhere, planning an early retirement, or possibly deluding themselves that this, too, shall pass.

Top o' the mornin' to ya! ⛳

#nyt reported that #BigHands has been pestering #Trudeau for over a month now in his private calls, not just about annexing #Canada. He's talking specifically about changing the border. And renegotiating, whatever that means, the lake and river treaties.

#Putin "changed" Ukraine's borders in 2014 and 2022.

Also, #MoscowDon threatened to kill everyone in #Gaza.

And on Friday, the Agency for Global Media informed one of Voice of America’s highest-profile journalists, Steven Herman, that he was being placed on an extended “excused absence” pending a human resources investigation, according to a copy of the letter reviewed by The New York Times. Mr. Herman confirmed receiving the letter, which said the investigation was into whether his “social media activity has undermined V.O.A.’

MAGA Loses It as DOGE Staffer Identities Revealed

#MAGA is furious that #public employees were identified.

"The #NYT identified several dozen employees working for #DOGE, but conservatives were surprisingly unhappy about the #transparency...

knowing who’s behind the seismic cuts is apparently not a priority for #conservatives, who would seemingly rather keep DOGE’s operators in a literal #DeepState"
